Bottle and Can drive

We will be having a Battle and Can drive on Saturday December 5th. This money will help us buy pies for pi day. If anyone works at a business where you can hang a flyer to advertise this please do so. Flyers will be available in a week. Members should also distribute flyers to their neighbors.
Next volunteers will be needed here at school on that Saturday. People will drop off their bottles and cans and we will have to sort them and count. we will be accepting donations from 9am to 11am. If you can volunteer for a one hour shift that would be wonderful.

January Newsletter

Welcome back from the holiday break. Hope everyone is well rested and ready to get to work on our Pi Day activity. Every year we hang up 500-600 questions for students to work on. This takes a lot of time and man power to get done. We will work on the questions during our January and February meetings. I will also need volunteers other days after school to complete this. With Pi day approaching we need to decide whether or not to order Pi day T-shirts.

Members should visit mualphatheta.org to apply for scholarships available. In addition to scholarships there are contests to enter like the Mathematical minutes video contest. You could win up to $3000 to be split among your team.

After midterms everyone will have to decide whether they want to tutor here at the high school during SSR and/or work with third graders one day a week after school at the JCS.As members of Mu Alpha Theta you must do one or the other. See Mrs. Taylor to sign up.

Don’t forget that we have two ongoing fundraisers: 1) Bottle and cans (5 cent deposit) and 2) empty ink cartridges. We also have a fundraiser with Mens Wearhouse for prom time. $5 for each tux rented to Norton prom comes back to us.

Our next two meeting dates are Wednesday January 28th and Wednesday February 25th. We meet the last Wednesday of each month. If you miss too many meetings you will be asked to leave Mu Alpha Theta.

Study hard and good luck on your midterm exams.
